This position is responsible for performing functions in the production area at various stations while complying with the Company’s Food Safety Plan and Quality Assurance guidelines. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks at the Hand Add Station, Bulk Station, Bagging Line and general warehouse such as:
  • Cutting full bags in batch bins
  • Weighing hand increments of ingredients in batch tote or sewing bags
  • Stacking bags on pallets or operating shrink wrapper
  • Maintain a clean and well organized working area:
  • Daily clean-up of debris and dust
  • Immediate disposal of foreign material when observed in production area
  • Equipment cleanliness such as mixer, batch bin, and hand cutting station equipment
  • Be knowledgeable of equipment function, preventative maintenance, and operation.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance schedules for equipment.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts.
  • Ensure that all production paperwork is legible and complete.
  • Report any food safety issues observed to General Manager and/or Quality Assurance and Regulatory Manager.
  • Report any plant security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to management.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of manufacturing experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing food or animal feed preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of production processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team oriented.
  • Must be dependable, honest and thorough. A versatile self-starter with a positive attitude who is cautiously assertive.
  • Ability and willingness to respond to production demands such as overtime.
  • Thorough in completing tasks and focused on quality output with attention to detail.

Physical Requirments

  • Frequently required to: sit, stand, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion activities throughout the day.
  • Regularly moves items weighing 25 kg (55.115 lbs).
  • Forklift operating experience preferred, but not required. 

Environment

  • Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Regularly exposed to dusty and noisy conditions on a regular basis
  • Regularly exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
