Overview

Western Milling, a Viserion company, is a diversified ag based company specializing in animal nutrition, agronomy, freight, commodities markets, and renewable fuels with roots reaching all the way back to 1935. We are looking for a highly motivated and capable Ruby on Rails developer with standalone ReactJS experience. If you are a collaborative engineer that would be excited to join a tech team that’s dedicated to building internal business applications that supports the needs of Viserion's growth, we would love to speak with you.

 

We are a virtual first workplace with physical production facilities throughout the West Coast, Central Region, and Spain. This role can be based in either the Eastern or Central (U.S.) time zone and the work day hours are 5:00 am to 2:00 pm EST.  The workday is usually an 8-hour day, weekdays only.

 

As an addition to our internal software development team, you will be collaborating with other members of the team to build, maintain and enhance on our custom developed core business applications which integrate into various manufacturing and accounting systems across the Viserion family of companies.

Responsibilities

The people we want to speak to have experience with…

  • Building responsive RESTful APIs in Ruby on Rails.
  • Architecting and implementing web features in ReactJS (standalone not in Rails)
  • Using an agile approach to development
  • Building well-designed, reusable UI components that can be shared across web applications.
  • Participating in code reviews, write unit tests, and conduct troubleshooting to ensure uptime for live systems.
  • Creating self-documenting code
  • Writing Rspec tests
  • Utilizing CI/CD Pipelines
  • Communicating effectively with others

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in both Ruby on Rails and ReactJS

Skills

  • Ruby on Rails
  • ReactJS
  • Github or other source control platforms
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently

Physical Requirments

  • Frequently required to: sit for prolonged periods of time, reach for/manipulate standard office equipment, communicate with various staff and/or reach for and manipulate objects.
