Service Lead

The Service Lead position is responsible to trouble shoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all types of vehicles/equipment within the company’s fleet. Must have practical knowledge of all types of machinery and tools, solid judgment and a good understanding of possible consequences of the work performed. This position will partner with management to evaluate, prioritize and delegate work amongst mechanics. 

• Work along with area manager to prioritize and delegate workload for the mechanics.
• Directs, instructs and works with department staff and co-workers on vehicle/equipment repairs and maintenance issues.
• Works with individual vehicle/equipment operators to understand and solve complaints and concerns in regards to proper vehicle/equipment maintenance and operation.
• Repair and maintain heavy duty transportation equipment
• Use hand tools and precision instruments, as well as power tools
• Comply with established company safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines; and be responsible for reporting un-safe practices to your supervisor.
• Will be responsible for maintaining accurate computer records of time and parts used on specific work orders.
• Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Maintains equipment and tools in good working condition, and detects and reports malfunctioning equipment to management.
• Assist in developing transportation maintenance and repair procedures.
• Rebuild gas and/or diesel engines, reconditions and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears and valves.
• Responsible for mounting and dismounting truck and trailer tires.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.
• Provide training for mechanics on all service related functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years' related experience in heavy equipment and diesel engine repair experience required.
• Candidate must possess a valid and current California driver’s license.

• Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Frequently climb ladders, and occasionally work at heights of 100 feet.

• Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.
• Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
• Regularly exposed to a moderate to severe noise levels.
• Frequently exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
