Overview

This position is responsible for ordering parts and supplies for the maintenance department. This position requires the ability to multitask, ensuring the smooth function of our parts requisitioning process under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager. Strict compliance with the facility Food Safety and Quality Management System Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions is required.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive parts and enter them into maintenance software system.
  • Issue parts and supplies to the maintenance technicians.
  • Organize information, set up/maintains files.
  • Reconcile/Audit purchase orders and invoices.
  • Process all plant maintenance work requests into the department CMMS.
  • Move, stock and store materials safely.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventory when necessary.
  • Maintain a neat and clean inventory or “parts” room at all times.
  • Follow all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Screen and direct incoming calls.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Maintain work area in an organized and clean manner ensuring safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Report any food safety issues observed to manager/supervisor.
  • Interact in a professional manner with facility and departmental staff and occasionally with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Report any plant security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to manager/supervisor.
  • Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
  • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability necessary to perform this job successfully:

  • Education/Experience:
    • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Three to Five (3-5) years of inventory experience: ordering, controlling stock, writing purchase orders, invoicing etc.
    • Exposure to manufacturing desired; experience in the food or beverage industry with knowledge of GMPs preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel skills.
    • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and as a team.
    • Have demonstrated good work ethic.
    • Good communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Continuously stand/walk/bend/kneel/repetitive lifting throughout shift.
    • Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to and including 25 pounds.
  • Environment:

    • Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
    • Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts/machinery.
    • Regularly exposed to moderate to severe noise levels.
    • Regularly exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.
    • Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
