Western Milling, a Commercial Feed Manufacturer, is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong drive and excellent relationship building, customer service and recordkeeping skills for the position of Safety Coordinator. This position is based at the company headquarters located in Goshen, California and may require travel to other locations throughout California and Arizona.


  • Compliance: Support compliance with OSHA grain handling and general industry regulations, along with federal, state and local laws and regulations and Company specific policies.
  • Safety Training Delivery and Tracking: Deliver safety training for temporary/contract labor, contractors, drivers, and employees. Assist with training tracking for all employees and new hires. Work with management to determine training that should be completed, by position, and follow through to ensure that the training is completed.
  • Required Posting Compliance: Ensure that all required signs and postings are complete and legible. Assist with ordering safety signs and equipment as needed.
  • Safety Audit/Inspection Assistance: Participate in audits conducted by the Safety Manager and Safety Consultant. Follow up on items flagged in the audit to confirm that they have been completed as directed by the Safety Manager or HR Director.
  • Fire Suppression / Emergency Response Equipment Audits: Perform routine plant walkthroughs to monitor equipment readiness and coordinate maintenance. Reports to management staff any areas of concern. Provide feedback on additional training needed.
  • Repair Reporting for Safety Items: Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure work orders are being submitted for any safety items.
  • Management General Assistance: Provide support to HR Director and Corporate Safety Manager on a variety of safety related projects.
  • Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Partner with management to investigate incidents, including near misses, identify root causes and ensure that corrective actions are completed.
  • Hazard Identification and Mitigation: Assist with delivery and coordination of mitigation for hazards associated with each job, and work with front line supervisors to ensure all employees are aware of associated hazards.
  • Recordkeeping: Manage the Company’s SDS and other safety related data tracking.
  • Policy Development: Assist the Safety Manager in development, maintenance and auditing policies as identified, needed and at least annually.


  • Experience and success in a role that required a high level of detail orientation, self-drive and motivation, independent thinking and trustworthiness.
  • Familiarity with equipment and production processes.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in a grain handling facility preferred, but not required.


  • Excellent customer service skills and high level of detail orientation.

  • The employee may be regularly exposed to hot, dusty and noisy conditions
  • The employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
