This is a mid-level position responsible for providing leadership, Direction, Training and Technical Support for Batching, Die Roll and Drying in the attainment of daily/weekly/monthly/yearly operational goals.  Strict compliance with the facility Food Safety and Quality Management System Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions is required.


  • Dotted line direct report responsibility for all Die Roll and Dryer employees on all shifts
  • Verify operation and performance of plant operations.
  • React to any deviations from Critical Control Limits, as required by company procedure.
  • Maintains standards as they apply to company guidelines.
  • Communicate in a proactive and professional manner with other employees.
  • Provide constant feedback to team members.
  • Be able to run all machines in the operations department.
  • Work with R&D to schedule and coordinate production test runs
  • Train and mentor new employees in the department
  • Verify the accuracy of work including operator checks, QA checks, blend ratios, finished product tanks and product.
  • Must understand and follow safety/food safety (SQF)/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) standards at all times.
  • Report any security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to manager or supervisor.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide a high level of support to the next customer (person) in line.
  • Report any food safety issue observed to manager/supervisor.

  • Deliver daily objectives determined by plant management.
  • Complete and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Daily Routine List (DRL), HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Compliance.
  • Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
  • Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor immediately.
  • Follow Company’s quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (eg. Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).
  • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Make adjustments to machinery, as needed.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.


  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five (3-5) years related experience in a food manufacturing environment; increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
  • Previous experience in a pet food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role required.


  • Strong leadership skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as a team.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to understand and comprehend materials (e.g. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), OSHA requirements, warning signs).

Physical Requirments

  • Continuously stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds; occasionally lift/move objects weighing greater than 75 pounds.
  • Regularly climb ladders and occasionally work at heights of 100 feet.
  • Ability to perform physically intensive activities and/or exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.


  • Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.
  • Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
  • Regularly exposed to a moderate to severe noise levels.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
