Maintenance Lead - PPF

The position of Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for organizing and leading daily maintenance activities.  This position will effectively understand the work planning schedule and will issue and track work throughout the shift.  This position will coordinate activities with production leadership during their shift.  Effective execution of this position will deliver >95% employee utilization, on time completion of work assignments, and positive engagement with fellow production leadership.  A Lead Technician will be expected to provide thought leadership as well as employee management skills required to complete the requirements of the position.

• Prepare and execute planned daily maintenance schedules including work assignments
• Prioritize maintenance resources when completing concurrent repairs
• Hold technicians accountable for work completion – completed work will be thorough and professionally executed
• Achieve >95% employee utilization during each shift
• Act as main point of contact concerning maintenance escalation with production for the shift
• Complete daily walk through of areas with production – noting both maintenance and production improvement opportunities
• Understand the larger business picture and how maintenance activities and personnel fit into the success of our organization
• Provide effective and concise feedback on maintenance systems and practices
• Track and understand key department metrics within shift; (MTBF, MTTR, Availability %, PM Completion %, etc.)
• Effectively manage data entered into CMMS system to ensure proper tracking
• Complete any unplanned maintenance or engineering activities as assigned by department leadership
• Supervise and provide training and/or training recommendations for maintenance technicians
• Performs maintenance in all areas of the plant on a scheduled or emergency basis as directed by work orders and/or direction from the Maintenance Manager:

• Respond to unscheduled/emergency work orders in an expedient and urgent manner.
• Conduct root cause of equipment failure and develop course of action to prevent future failures with direction from management.
• Receive direction from Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager.
• Complete assigned work by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager.
• Document work completed in Maintenance CMMS System
• Troubleshoot issues with structured approach to minimize production impact
• Communicate repair steps to production to increase working knowledge of the operator
• Know and understand city, county, state and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment; works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met.
• Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Housekeeping duties to include sweeping, cleaning and sanitizing both work areas throughout the plant and maintenance shop area, as necessary.
• Report any food safety issue observed to Manager or Supervisor.
• Report any security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to Manager or Supervisor.
• Works with contractors and assists with new installations and other projects, as necessary.
• Complete and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Daily Routine List (DRL), HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Compliance.
• Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
• Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor immediately.
• Follow Company’s quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (eg. Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).
• Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
• Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
• Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

• A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with industrial dryers, hammer mills, extruders, and bucket elevators preferred.
• Working knowledge of boilers, PLC programming, and three phase electrical systems.Five to ten (5-10) years’ industrial maintenance experience.

• Time Management and Organizational Skills are a Must for this position
• Understanding of plant operational processes and procedures, including routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices
• Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and as a team
• Systematic Troubleshooting Skills
• Excellent Communication Skills – ability to have technical discussions with non-technical employees

• Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Frequently climb ladders, and occasionally work at heights of 100 feet.
• Frequently work in elevated temperatures while following acceptable safety restrictions

• Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.
• Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
• Regularly exposed to moderate to severe noise levels.
• Frequently exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
