  • Overview

    This is a mid-management position responsible for the effective execution of production scheduling and coordination of related raw materials, packs, and inventories.  This position ensures the efficient and effective scheduling of production, coordinating materials, and managing customer service.

    Responsibilities

    • Principal liaison between supply chain, accounting, customer services, and operations.
    • Provide timely and accurate communication to all internal/external customers
    • Verify operation and performance of warehouse operations.
    • React to any deviations from Critical Control Limits, as required by company procedure.
    • Maintains standards as they apply to company guidelines.
    • Communicate in a proactive and professional manner with other employees.
    • Provide constant feedback to team members.
    • Assist in scheduling breaks for other employees.
    • Verify the accuracy of work including operator checks, QA checks, blend ratios, finished product tanks and product.
    • Report any security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to manager or supervisor.
    • Deliver daily objectives determined by plant management.
    • Actively participate in audit activities and ongoing efforts to ensure compliance to internal and external standards.
    • Assist all departments in development of processes to ensure planned efficiency and production numbers are attained, or exceeded, to ensure customer demand can be fulfilled on time.
    • Facilitate the use of continuous improvement methodologies and projects to improve and streamline production process.
    • Work with Production, Maintenance and Warehouse to monitor and track planned downtime hours and partner with multiple departments to minimize downtime and strategically maximize the use of downtime.
    • Set schedules for department staff as needed; monitor scheduled hours and approve over time.
    • Makes personnel decisions and places personnel in the roles where they will succeed.
    • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure efficient operation.
    • Be proactive and optimize workforce productivity and minimize plant downtime through efficient scheduling as defined by the business.
    • Actively lead customer services and scheduling meetings.
    • Prepare, analyze, and present data to all levels of the business.
    • Understand/execute required inventory transactions and functions.
    • Understand inventory/accounting processes and be able to manage without planned support.
    • Understand site operations at a level that allows for consistent execution of an efficient production schedule.
    • Engage as an active and collaborative member of the Western Milling team.
    • Influence results of team members without direct leadership responsibility.
    • Perform all functions of the job without planned support.
    • Complete and comply with the Sanitation Schedule, Daily Routine List (DRL), HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Compliance.
    • Maintain a sanitary environment at all times.
    • Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor immediately.
    • Follow Company’s quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (eg. Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).
    • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
    • Consult with Leads, Managers, accounting, and Production Supervisors as necessary.
    • Manage order priority; develop, maintain, and update production plans and related production materials, as necessary.
    • Available to provide support by phone, as necessary.
    • Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • A high school diploma, with Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Understanding of manufacturing process, GMPs OSHA regulations and Food Safety.
    • Three to Five (3-5) years in a Feed Manufacturing Facility preferred.
