This is mid-level position responsible for the daily operations of the mill. The primary goals are to ensure safe and efficient production and the highest product integrity by responding to changing conditions in a timely manner.
Write Standard Operating Procedures for the facility and ensure that policies and procedures are followed in accordance with customer requirements.
Participate in scheduling production and labor resources to assure smooth plan operations.
Ensure that adequate personnel, materials, supplies, tools and equipment are available for assigned shift work.
Maintain the flow of work throughout the mill anticipating and investigating production delays, maintenance breakdowns and inadequate work performance and take corrective action.
Continuously maintain awareness of any production problems and develop strategies and procedures to correct existing problems and help eliminate any future production related issues.
Immediate supervision over hourly maintenance and production workers.
Assist, instruct, direct and train employees in daily tasks.
When necessary work alongside employees on rails, production and scale house.
Maintain communication and accessibility with the Mill Manager, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and other key contacts.
Enforce company policies and best practices regarding safety and environmental compliance.
Specific attention to LOTO and confined space entry procedures.
Report unsafe work conditions.
Ensure good housekeeping of the work place.
Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three (3) years lead role experience preferred
Five (5) years operations experience.
Basic operating knowledge of augers, belt-driven machinery, elevators, and other equipment used in the production process.
