Overview

The Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor provides daily leadership in the receipt, storage and distribution of product to vendors, warehouses, and shuttle deliveries.  Using behavior based coaching and feedback, the DC Supervisor ensures that job duties and responsibilities of team members are safely completed in a consistent, accurate, and productive manner.  The DC Supervisor is responsible for coaching and developing teams to create a culture of continuous improvement through employee engagement that supports our company values.

This is a mid-level position responsible for planning, communicating, and giving direction to Warehouse personnel.  This position requires attention to detail as well as a blend of skills and experience that are specifically focused on the inventory management within the warehouse.  Strict compliance with the facility Food Safety and Quality Management System Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions is required.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Run inventory reports on daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Responsible for proper housekeeping in the warehouse.
  • Perform visual validation of received merchandise to description and package details from original purchase order.
  • Plan, communicate, and give direction to employees.
  • Scale trucks in and out.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly working environment.
  • Understanding of plant operational processes and procedures (eg. routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices).
  • The ability to communicate and give clear direction to others through phone, email as well as face-to-face.
  • Maximize space, monitoring inventory levels, and product movement
  • Ensure all outgoing shipments are picked accurately using a FIFO pick list.
  • Ensure order is loaded in a manner that adheres to customer profile.
  • Ensure a conforming product mix, facilitate efficient order fulfillment, and receive raw materials and packaged goods.
  • Stage and prepare pallets for shipment and accurate completion of required paperwork.
  • Complete shipping forms as required and ensure distribution of copies follows established packing procedures.
  • Operate a forklift; may include unloading finished product, supplies and ingredients from incoming trailers/pallets/skids, and transfer to correct storage areas.
  • Perform cycle counts on finished product and ingredients by date.
  • Counts packaging materials as requested by manager.
  • Advise management of any unsafe conditions to assist in providing a safe environment for other workers who walk through the warehouse.
  • Follow and maintain GMP standards at all times.
  • Safely operate forklift/stand up reach truck.
  • Complete all required documentation with accuracy.
    • Complete “Hold” tags in compliance with Quality Assurance Positive Release Program requirements.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of any unsafe conditions in both plant and warehouse areas.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues; advise maintenance of needed and/or preventive repair.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement ideas and implementation in assigned area.
  • Participate in team functions as required.
  • Maintain warehouse in an organized and clean manner to ensure safety and GMPs are upheld.
  • Interact with warehouse, quality control, and production team members to maximize output and efficiency.
  • Complete and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Daily Routine List (DRL), HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Compliance.
  • Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
  • Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor immediately.
  • Follow Company’s quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (eg. Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).
  • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years working in warehouse environment.
  • Experience as a lead, or serving in a leadership capacity.
  • Forklift/stand up reach truck experience.
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing using the English language.
